Thyme - Life inhalation

 

Thyme in Greek means "thymos"- "life inhalation, spirit", from ancientry was in his way a religious herb. They say that this herb is able to recover energy structure of a human.  In heathen times the Slavs used it in their profane rites. There was a superstition that thyme remans those humans who use it in food or wear it in amulet, that’s a thyme decoction was given to faint-hearted fighting men before a fight. People believe that thyme in pillow brings health and longevity. In many countries this herb is considered as a symbol of fertility, that's why brides wore garlands made of wild thyme.

 

 

In medicine thyme preparations – decoction, liquid extract, essence oil are widely used as antifungal, disinfectant and antiseptic agent in case of inflammation of mucous tunic of upper respiratory tracts, and as well in case of liver, cholangitis and gastrointestinal tract diseases.  Decoction and liquid extract of thyme have expressed expectorative and anti-inflammatory action, increase gastric secretion, and remove gastrointestinal tract's spasms. They are assigned in case of bronchitis, whooping cough, and pneumonia and as analgetic in case of radiculitis and umbosacral radiculitis.

 

The main reactant is essence oil.  Thyme essence oil has strong antibiotic property. Bactericidal property of thymol (the main component of oil) is multiply stronger than phenol - chemical agent used for disinfection. They say, that dispersion of thyme essence indoor influences on human’s bioenergetics: increases thirst for activity, encourages, increases accuracy in intellectual work and decontaminates air of the closed rooms.
